I Remember. . .

Posted by Unknown on 22.30 in ,

I will tell about my first English teacher and all of things I remember in the past about my experience when learn English (suddenly I miss her so much T_T)

Well, her name was Siti Chalimah. We called her Mam Siti. She was an English teacher in elementary school where I attended. She was so pretty and kind to me (of course with all of her students too). The way she taught us was so great (even until right now I still follow and remember everything that she taught, honestly she's my best teacher all the time), sometimes she gave a small test to us according to the material and often I got top score and active in the class but I also ever once got 0 score and caught reading comics in the middle of lesson time -_-

That time, I really loved English subject. She always asked us to brought dictionary. My first dictionary was so small and old but that dictionary really helped me a lot to learn English for the first time. But gradually I kinda troubled because it's so small and I need more vocabulary to improve my skill. I really wanted dictionary like what Mam Siti used (John M. Echols and Hassan Shadily's English-Indonesian dictionary) so, I asked again and again to my father to buy it (back then it was so expensive). Fortunately, my father bought that dictionary, even until now I still use it well although it looked old but it's okay that dictionary was big helper that related with my English experience (back then I always panicked and helpless when I forgot to bring it at English subject periods although I already borrowed another dictionary from my friend)

I thought I started interest in English because I often saw and heard my older brother learn English and maybe because I liked to learn other language (example : Japanese and Korean).

Everything's still so fresh in my mind. To me, that is my most beautiful memories and I'll never forget it

The Experience of Second Semester

Posted by Unknown on 12.04 in ,

After posted about the experience of my first semester, this time for my experience in second semester

If you have read my previous post, you must know it was so calm, right? (if you haven't read it click here) different from the first semester, in the second semester I started to feel busy and dizzy because sooo many task from the lecturers must be finished and the worst part they gave it at the same time!!! God, I felt at that time I'm going crazy (T_T). Beside because I took non-English course, and learning methods used is discussion, which each group had to write a paper and presented it in front of the class. Honestly, i didn't really like that method (from my point of view as student)

In the English course also can't as relaxed as before, the material began quiet difficult and the assignment began appeared. The most feared course for me is Introduction to Linguistic. After we finished discussed and learnt 2 chapters, the lecturer asked us to create a resume material that has been discussed previously. Assignment should be sent by e-mail until the specified time limit, if it passed a specified time limit then the resume will not be accepted! If there are similarities with other people more than 25%, the lecturer will give us a D score directly!!! It feels like I had mental breakdown when the warning was given at the first meeting (which I'm not the only one who feel like this) beside the sources book we used there were 4 books. But in the end, not like what we guessed before, the lecturer gave us a good score. Yeayyyy :D

For Intermediate Speaking course the lecturer asked us, each group, to make a speaking practice video like the TV show. The struggle to make this video didn't as smoothly as I would expect, from inadequate equipment to lack of time we had (even we had idea of skipping writing class just for making this video, but fortunately we cancelled the idea of skipping class and succeed in making the video )

This is the complete video after we editing it, I asked for help from my friend in campus. Edited this video together toward evening. It was haven't finished and should be continued at home alone using my brother's compute. Sorry for our bad english (T_T)

(How is it? bad right? it's still far from perfect)

NB : Currently in my 3rd semester I'm so busy with many many assignment and feel like I'm stressed out :( but it's okay, it's my duty as a student right?

See ya at my next post :D

The Experience of First Semester

Posted by Unknown on 20.35 in ,

First semester,,,

What I remember from first semester was I rarely had any duties, be a SKK hunter ,  and sense of inferiority in my ability compared to friends in one field (English Department)

When another students from other Department busily making paper, back and forth looking for books in the library, instead we still can hang out and went to campus without worrying about the task. Even if there are task, that's not as difficult as making paper. ("just wait and see at 2nd semester." said my senior when I told him about my first semester)

And for the experience when learning English in this semester, honestly just so-so, nothing spesial for me (maybe because in this semester what we learnt still the basic). But overall I pleased to meet new friends even though I still miss my high school friends

(Still so innocent, right? ^^)

See ya at my next post :D
